¡Hola! Soy Lauren. I have taught Spanish across a wide range of settings, from elementary school classrooms to university courses, private tutoring, and now with language immersion at home with my own two children. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Colorado, as well as a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish from Rutgers University. I am deeply passionate about language learning through community, interaction, and meaningful communication. Sí quieres hablar en español, ¡ven conmigo!
Language Learning through Conversation
Research shows that language is best learned through immersion and comprehensible input. This theory proposes that learners acquire language most effectively when they understand messages that are slightly above their current proficiency level (Krashen). I design my classroom so that Spanish is used approximately 90% of the time, allowing you and your classmates to immerse yourselves in contextualized language and meaningful conversation with me and your peers. Classes are capped at nine students so that we can get to know one another and build language skills through a strong sense of community.
Kinder Jardín is a 50-minute, outdoor Spanish immersion experience for children and their caregivers. Sessions include songs, simple routines, sensory play, and garden exploration — all in Spanish. One $25 admission per family!
